After being postponed three years in a row, on 3 and 4 March the A State of Trance Celebration Weekend was finally able to go ahead. In celebration of the 1000th episode of van Buuren’s immensely popular radio show, A State of Trance pulled out all the stops with five stages, dozens of artists, and an impressively high level of production. A slew of trance, electro, and techno heavyweights performed in front of 55.000 fans in Utrecht, expanding on the event’s regular line-ups of solely trance artists.
A State of Trance, originally started as a modest weekly radio show by Armin van Buuren, has since grown into the epicenter of trance music. The weekly show is broadcast in 84 countries and draws in an astonishing 41 million listeners per episode. Since the show’s 500th episode, van Buuren started celebrating the anniversaries with events, which have now touched upon 5 continents and united millions of fans at 100+ events. The yearly event in The Netherlands has historically been organized by ALDA and has become the largest trance event in the world.
In addition to the Celebration Weekend, A State of Trance has opened a special exhibition in the Our House Museum in Amsterdam, highlighting 20 years of the brand. The exhibition has been curated by Armin van Buuren himself and showcases interactive presentations, show memorabilia, and historic footage of the events over the years.
