- Hey Daniel Lerman! Glad to have you here to talk with you about your latest release ‘Those Nights’.
- Glad to be here!
- Can you please tell us more details about ‘Those Nights’? How did it come to life and when?
- The track came to life early last year. At the time, it seemed like the scene was going stale – everyone was copying the same sound, and the music just sounded more or less the same (still valid in 2024). I wanted to make a record that felt like a breath of fresh air. Something new and exciting that would challenge the status quo.
- What sets ‘Those Nights’ apart from your previous work, and why should listeners tune in?
- Every Artist has that moment when they realize they’ve found their own sound, right? Those Nights is without a doubt the first track I’ve made where that feeling kicked in. The track just feels really unique to me, and I think it’s come at a time when people are looking for originality.
- How would you describe your sound?
- I pull from a bunch of different genres to create my own sound. It’s a unique blend of house, techno and trance. In other words, think of it as: groove meets drive meets melody (hope that makes sense).
- Who is Daniel Lerman and why music? At what age did you get into music and how?
- Well, I’ve been a record producer and DJ in the electronic music scene for a little over a decade now. My friends and fans have described me as: underground, high energy and outspoken. I’m most passionate about advancing our scene forward, the overall culture and artistic integrity.
- I began my artistic journey at a young age. Basically, my parents pushed me into acting which I did professionally for a while, but it wasn’t really for me. I discovered electronic music on YouTube around the age of 13, and knew immediately that music was my calling. Maybe around a year after that, a friend of mine gifted me with a DJ controller. Shortly after that, I found myself playing an early slot time at an unlicensed warehouse rave in Brooklyn!
- Do you remember the name of the first song that made you love electronic music?
- So at the time electro house was very popular. I was a 13 year old playing around on YouTube and came across the infamous DJ BL3ND mixes. I can’t really pinpoint an exact track, but those mixes really sparked my interest in electronic music.
- Who or what has been your biggest inspiration throughout your music journey?
- Top of the inspiration list is the one and only Carl Cox (I read his autobiography and everything). He was kind of in his own lane trying to make something happen that had never been done before. He faced a lot of ups and downs, but ultimately ended up becoming one of the GOATs of our scene.
- What’s the one activity you love doing in your free time when not making music?
- I’m a huge foodie – absolutely love going out of my way to discover new restaurants. Especially in NYC where there is so much diversity.
- Can you tell us more about your dream and future collaboration and what do you hope to achieve in the next 2 years in your professional career?
- Sooooo many Artists come to mind, but it’s always been a dream of mine to collaborate with the legend Jamie Jones. A lot of things to accomplish in the next 2 years….let me think. I’ve been curating my own party in NYC, conveniently named after my latest release Those Nights. I’ll be pushing hard to bring the party series overseas to Ibiza and beyond, showcasing my favorite acts and unique sound.
- This is all for now. Thank you for your time answering our questions. Where can our community find out more about your music and your future releases?
- Thank you for having me! I’ve got a new single coming out on March 29th. Give your boy a follow on Instagram for more updates on the next single.
