- Hey mAdcAt! Glad to have you here to talk with you about your latest release ‘Lay Low’.
Hey, thanks for having me! Always a pleasure to chat about the madness that goes into my music. ‘Lay Low’ is one of those tracks where I really wanted to capture that deep, hypnotic groove while keeping that raw energy I love. It’s got that dark, yet infectious vibe—something you can get lost in, whether you’re on a packed dancefloor or just vibing on your own.
- Can you please tell us more details about ‘Lay Low’? How did it come to life and when?
Absolutely! Lay Low came to life in one of those late-night studio sessions where I was just messing around with some dark, hypnotic basslines. I wanted to create something that felt both underground and high-energy—like that perfect track that hits when you’re deep into a set, lost in the moment.
Lay Low is my way of saying, “Yeah, I’m here, and if you really listen, you’ll start to understand who the f** I am.”
The track carries a lot of the raw emotions, the highs and lows, the controlled chaos that defines me—not just as an artist, but as a person.
It came together in one of those moments where everything aligned: the deep, rolling bass, the hypnotic rhythm, the vocal hook that almost whispers a hidden message. It’s not just about making people move; it’s about making them feel. If you get it, you get it. If you don’t… well, just keep listening.
- What sets ‘Lay Low’ apart from your previous work, and why should listeners tune in?
Lay Low stands apart because, for the first time, my voice is in the track. I’ve always let my music do the talking, but this time, I took it a step further—literally putting myself into the song. That alone makes it the most personal piece I’ve ever released.
This track isn’t just about sound design or energy; it’s a reflection of me. The lyrics, the hypnotic groove, the way everything flows—it’s like an encrypted message to those who really listen. Unlike my previous tracks, which thrived on controlled chaos and heavy drops, Lay Low pulls you in with tension, emotion, and a rawness that I haven’t shared in this way before.
Why should people tune in? Because this isn’t just another banger—it’s a statement. It’s me stepping out from behind the mask in my own way. If you really want to understand who the f*** mAdcAt is, this track is the perfect place to start.
- How would you describe your sound?
mAdcAt isn’t just a sound—it’s an attitude. It’s that perfect mix of controlled chaos, deep grooves, and relentless energy that keeps you on edge. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s bass-driven, hypnotic, and fearless. One moment, you’re locked into a rolling tech-house groove; the next, you’re getting smacked in the face with a raw, aggressive drop. I thrive in that tension—between underground grit and high-energy festival madness, between melody and destruction, between the expected and the completely unpredictable.
There are no rules in my sound, only vibes and impact. I pull from bass music, house, techno, trap—whatever tells the right story for the moment. It’s why you can hear a crushing dubstep drop, a dark hypnotic bassline, or even my own vocals in a track, and it all still feels like mAdcAt. It’s all about that feeling—that moment on the dancefloor where nothing else exists but the music.
If you’re looking for something polished, predictable, and safe, I’m not your guy. But if you’re ready for something raw, weird, and designed to make you feel something? Then welcome to my world.
- Who is mAdcAt and why music? At what age did you get into music and how?
Who is mAdcAt? That’s the question, isn’t it? mAdcAt is more than just a producer, DJ, or masked figure—it’s a concept, an attitude, a way to break the rules without asking for permission. It’s about pushing boundaries, embracing the weird, and creating music that speaks louder than words.
The project started on April 1st, 2019, originally as a trio. Three minds, three visions, all coming together to build something unique. In 2020, it became two. By 2022, it was just me—the last one standing, fully embracing mAdcAt as my alter ego.
Why music? Because it was never really a choice—it’s in my DNA. It’s the only language that truly makes sense to me, the one place where I can translate my thoughts, emotions, and chaos into something real. Music is my way of connecting with the world without having to explain myself. It’s a place where I can be completely unfiltered, raw, and free.
The journey started long before mAdcAt, but it was this project that allowed me to step into my own world fully. And since then, I’ve never looked back.
- Do you remember the name of the first song that made you love electronic music?
Oh, that’s an easy one—The Prodigy changed everything for me. The moment I heard Smack My Bitch Up, it was game over. That track wasn’t just music; it was an attitude, a punch in the face that made me realize electronic music could be just as raw, aggressive, and rebellious as anything else.
I’ve always been drawn to the weird, the unconventional, the rule-breakers. The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Bumfuck MCs—they all had this insane way of twisting sounds, breaking expectations, and making music that just didn’t give a f*** about fitting in. That’s what got me hooked. Their music wasn’t just something you listened to—it was something you felt in your bones.
That love for the unexpected, the strange, and the chaotic is exactly what fuels mAdcAt. I don’t want to make music that just exists—I want to make music that slaps you in the face and leaves a mark.
- Who or what has been your biggest inspiration throughout your music journey?
Believe it or not, my biggest inspiration is me. Not out of arrogance, but because if I hadn’t pushed through the sh*t life threw at me, I wouldn’t be here. My journey hasn’t been easy—far from it. I’ve had to fight through ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Mild Autism, Color Blindness, and PTSD from childhood memories I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Music became my escape, my therapy, my way of turning chaos into something that made sense. While some people find inspiration in idols, I found mine in survival. Every beat, every bassline, every weird-ass sound I create—it’s all a reflection of the battles I’ve fought and the scars I carry.
I don’t make music just for the fun of it—I make music because it’s the only way I know how to exist. It’s the only space where my mind is free, where nothing else matters, where I can be as loud, as weird, and as unapologetically me as possible.
That’s why I wear the mask—not to hide, but to strip away everything else and let the music speak. Because at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.
- What’s the one activity you love doing in your free time when not making music?
When I’m not making music, I’m either building something weird or shooting hoops.
I’m not the kind of person who just “chills”—my brain doesn’t work like that. If I’m not in the studio, I’m deep into Weird.inc, which is way more than just a clothing brand. It’s a movement, a way to connect with people who don’t fit into the usual mold. Through Weird.inc Wear, I create streetwear that speaks to the misfits, the creatives, and the ones who aren’t afraid to stand out. It’s not just about clothes; it’s about identity.
Then there’s SonicScoop Music, my way of giving back to artists who, like me, just want their music heard without industry B.S. I’ve built a platform that helps independent artists distribute their music properly—no gatekeeping, no hidden tricks, just raw music reaching the right ears.
And when do I need to clear my head? Basketball. Outdoors, fresh air, and the sound of the ball hitting the pavement—it’s one of the few things that lets my mind reset. Plus, it’s the one place where I don’t have to think about business, music, or strategy. Just the game.
So yeah, whether it’s pushing Weird.inc, elevating artists through SonicScoop Music, or just breaking ankles on the court—I’m always doing something. I don’t do “off mode.”
- Can you tell us more about your dream and future collaboration and what do you hope to achieve in the next 4 years in your professional career?
Honestly? I don’t sit around planning a five-step career path. I live day by day—making music, building, creating, and letting things happen. We’re lucky to be alive, and even luckier to be able to change and evolve. That’s my only real goal—to be better than I am today, both as a person and, yeah, when it comes to my wallet too.
As for collaborations, I don’t chase names—I chase energy. If an artist has the right vibe, the right creative madness, I’m in. I respect people who break the rules and redefine sound. Recently, I’ve been learning more about Anitta—not just as an artist but as an entrepreneur and a powerhouse of a woman. She’s fire, man. If I could choose someone for a dream collab right now? It would be her.
In the next four years, I just want to keep growing—as an artist, as a businessman, and as a human. Weird.inc Wear expanding, SonicScoop Music helping more artists, and my own music reaching bigger crowds, bigger speakers, and bigger moments.
I don’t overthink the future. I just make sure I’m always moving forward.
