Gareth Emery has long pushed the boundaries of live electronic music with LSR/CITY blending euphoric melodies and immersive, high-energy performances. His visually mesmerizing tour redefined visual storytelling in dance music, fusing synth-pop and trance with cutting-edge laser technology. But all good things must come to an end.
After years of delivering breathtaking audiovisual experiences, Emery has announced that CYBERPUNK will mark the final chapter for LSR/CITY—at least for the foreseeable future. In a heartfelt statement, he shared on Instagram the physical and mental toll of orchestrating such an intricate show, revealing his decision to step away from large-scale productions. Fans can still expect Emery behind the decks, but moving forward, it will be all about the music—no lasers, no 3D visuals, just raw energy and a USB stick.
With the final LSR/CITY performances approaching, this is the last chance for fans to witness the spectacle.
Gareth Emery LSR/CITY shows come to an end
After years of pushing creative and technical boundaries, Emery has revealed that CYBERPUNK will be the final chapter of this monumental production.
“Should let y’all know after CYBERPUNK there will not be a North American LSR/CITY tour for many years, so if you have a show near you, it may be the last time,” Emery shared in a heartfelt statement.
Since its inception, LSR/CITY has been Emery’s most ambitious project, evolving through multiple versions and pushing the limits of live storytelling in electronic music. But the demands of orchestrating such an intricate experience have taken their toll.
“I f*ing love this tour. It’s the best production I’ve ever been involved in, building on everything from V1, V2, and V3… but once we wrap CYBERPUNK, your boy needs a break,” he admitted. “Putting on an experience like this is one of the most physically and mentally exhausting things I’ve ever done. It’s also incredibly fulfilling, and every night I feel like we’re changing lives, but I’ve been burned out enough to know when I’m there.”
As he prepares to step back from large-scale productions, Emery reassures fans that he isn’t leaving the scene—just simplifying his approach. “So, when we wrap London, I’m gonna spend a few years making tunes and doing DJ sets with no live elements, no lasers, just a USB stick and a lot of sleep.”
LSR/CITY Production by Gareth Emery
Emery launched LSR/CITY in 2021 to offer a new experience for the fans who attend his live shows. Instead of simply playing tracks with some pyros for entertainment, which may do just as fine for many, he introduced a way to immerse fans deeper with the help of laser displays synchronized in perfect harmony with his every drop and combined it with 3D digital environments to give an unparalleled experience to the fans.
As a technology enthusiast, Emery has been a driving force for innovation and has elevated dance music with the latest developments in technology. Along with the LSR/CITY project, he had also launched an NFT collection reflecting much of the project’s live shows consisting of solid tunes with crazy light shows.
For Emery, the fan experience has not been about the music or the crowd’s energy alone, he has put in a significant amount of time to deliver memorable all-around 360-degree experiences. Emery has spent countless hours working in the studio for the music but has also worked tirelessly outside of the studio concocting an other-worldly cocktail of incredible laser shows to go with his euphoric music to treat the fans both visually and audibly.

CYBERPUNK will be Emery’s final LSR/CITY stop
Alas, like all good things, it seems the LSR/CITY production will come to an end this year at CYBERPUNK. Lucky for fans, he will continue to perform—just minus the intense lasers and 3D productions.
Don’t miss what looks like the final chance to witness Gareth Emery performing the LSR/CITY live at CYBERPUNK. The British DJ will round up the tour close to home in London, United Kingdom on Sep. 6.
