After weeks of speculation and uncertainty about the event, Insomniac’s CEO Pasquale Rotella has confirmed that EDC Vegas 2021 will proceed as planned in May with proper COVID safety measures in place. Being one of the first large-scale music festivals to mark their return since the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers announced that the three-day event will take place on the weekend of May 21-23 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after being postponed twice last year.
The Nevada Department of Business and Industry had rejected the original safety plan proposed by the organizers because it did not comply with the necessary requirements related to capacity or social distancing. Although a revised safety plan has not been submitted or approved, Rotella said that the attendees “can expect the full EDC experience with no details spared, from the festival grounds to the music, stages, art, performers, artists & fireworks!”.
He also said that his team is “working closely with local & state officials to make the show as safe as possible” with numerous safety protocols such as the requirement of proof of vaccination or a negative test result to enter the grounds, COVID-19 detection dogs, mandatory face masks, and are even considering rapid tests to be available at the festival.
In the announcement posted on Instagram, the Insomniac head honcho also added that more details about the festival’s lineup and event safety protocols will be revealed in the near future, with the event being six weeks away. For the pass holders who may not be able to attend this year, the tickets can be transferred to EDC 2022.
