Just under two weeks ago, Insomniac confirmed that EDC Las Vegas 2021 will go ahead as planned in May after months of speculation and uncertainty. In what turns out to be another twist in the saga of EDC, Insomniac’s Founder & CEO Pasquale Rotella has announced that the festival will move to October.
Despite the rejection of their original safety plan by The Nevada Department of Business and Industry, Rotella assured fans that the event will go through as they worked on developing a new safety proposal with the local and state officials. He informed that his team “just had a meeting in Las Vegas this past Friday with police, fire, medical, and other agencies involved with EDC to plan out details surrounding the event.”
The iconic festival looked ready to proceed as scheduled until Clark County (home of EDC & the Las Vegas Motor Speedway) passed a reopening plan that requires 60% of their residents to be vaccinated before restrictions over large scale gatherings such as EDC can be lifted. Given the risk of that possibility not happening, Insomniac decided to move the event ahead to later this year. Rotella added that he “will be announcing an AMA on Reddit in the near future to address any questions.”
The event has been postponed to October 22-24, 2021 and tickets for attendees will automatically be transferred to the new dates including those who transferred their passes to next year. For those who do not wish to retain their tickets, you can elect to receive a refund by filling out the EDC Las Vegas Order Verification form here.
