MUNCH SQUAD Talks About the Story Behind his Latest Release ‘SAD’ with Emmbers [INTERVIEW]

My music is a representation of who I am as a person.

  1. Hello MUNCH SQUAD, how are you? We are glad to have you here and ask you some questions about your latest release.

Thanks for having me on. I really appreciate being able to do this with such an amazing company!

  1. You’ve recently released the song ‘SAD’ together with Emmbers. Can you tell us more about the song and how you met with Emmbers and how you decided to collaborate on this song?

Sad is my representation of how the things we say can actually affect people.

The story in my own experience is being told by someone who took their own life because of it.

It’s a really deep thing to write about and I feel like I made this song to prevent that from ever happening to someone who feels as low as the storyteller.

Originally, I drafted the tune and wrote the lyrics for it before I got into contact with Emmbers.

She happened to link up with me after I made a post seeking a vocalist.

She was the first vocalist I tested out for this track and it was just like magic.

The way her voice resonated with the song pretty much made it what it is today.

  1. Can you tell us what inspired you to come up with that intriguing name for the song?

At first, I was all over the place trying to name this song. I finally came to the conclusion that “Sad” by itself was the perfect representation for this tune and the name resonated with the idea behind the song while being directly in your face before you even listen to the song.

  1. Can you describe your music style, heavy & emotional?

My music is a representation of who I am as a person. The idea of combining such emotional melodies with distorted bass lines and the softer elements you’d see in melodic bass really captures my idea of needing pain to be happy. It’s like a balance in my own opinion. The one quote I love that captures the idea perfectly is this;

“May the flowers remind us why the rain was so necessary”.

  1. We are always pleased to hear the story of every music producer that we have the chance to talk with about how their passion for music started and at what age, can you tell us more about yours?

So I really didn’t get into music on a professional level until I was about 17-18 which during that time was a huge turning point in my life. I was on a spiralling down fall and nothing really felt right. I like to model all my music towards what I feel and how it could help others while they might feel the same way. During my fall, I made some decisions that landed me in a place that helped me for 3 weeks and during that time there I’d play this broken piano during our lunch periods that really made me realize that music was there for me when everything else wasn’t. Sorry to run on, I just feel like you can’t understand the true meaning behind how much this means to me or the amount of effort i put in to help not only myself but others as well with what i’m able to feel & create. From the moment my hands left that piano I felt empty again. I started working on music daily after that time and went on to finally capture who I wanted to be and sound like as an artist. Heavy & Emotional is what best defines my music & I.

  1. What inspires you when you’re in the studio and produce music?

Anything to be honest.

I’m constantly looking for new ideas and trying new methods to increase production. I normally start with melodies or sound design and that turns into a whole song just from one little sound making my brain click on.

  1. What do you do in your free time and what makes you happy every day?

My son is what makes me the happiest. In my free time however, I like playing video games, cooking, kayaking and producing as much as possible. I have a bad habit of never taking breaks to be honest and the only times I really do take them end up with my son or the activities I listed above.

  1. Can you tell us some of your future plans? Have you prepared any new collaborations, or what our audience should expect from you in the near future?

Expect a lot of music. As of now, I’ve been releasing a single track each month for about a year and a half straight. I don’t plan on stopping that process until I write my debut album. As far as collaborations go, I’d say keep an eye out for another one with IMPAQT here soon.

  1. We’ve all seen the consequences COVID-19 pandemic had on the music industry. How do you think the music industry will recover and then, evolve?

Personally, I think that everyone has been building up and a lot of artists who didn’t have that light at the time are going to shine compared to larger artists who already have that direct attention.

  1. Where the people can find you and on which social networks?
