subduxtion Talks About his ‘Dark Signals Radio Show’ and Future Plans

  1. Hi subduxtion, how are you doing?

I’m doing well, thank you; even busier now that Dark Signals Radio has launched.

  1. Can you tell us more about your new radio show ‘Dark Signals’? How did the idea for the show come about?

It follows my long standing desire to have my own radio show. Going back to high-school I had what you would loosely call a radio station. My school had a turntable in the admin office that was connected to the school’s PA system, so at lunch I would play music.  I also interned at a radio station back in California. So ‘Dark Signals’ is the natural outgrowth of those experiences even though many years have passed since then. (LOL) The name ‘Dark Signals’ comes from a track of mine, released in 2020. Given where I am musically, it was a natural next step to take. I have to make special mention of the show’s opening as it takes influence from one of my favorite television shows, ‘The Twilight Zone’. The host Rod Serling has this clipped delivery that he utilized when giving the intro to each episode and I wanted to capture that feeling. The concept behind the show also represents some of the musical feeling I wanted to project; twisted sci-fi and futurism with a noirish twist. Electronic music has proven itself to not only be the music of the present but the music of the future. Dark Signals is thematically very influenced by the X-Files (television show), my time clubbing in Los Angeles and my own preference for music that tends to be darker in sound.

  1. What genres of music can we expect in each episode?

You can expect House, Dub-Techno, DeepHouse, Minimal Techno, Progressive House and Future House.

  1. Will we be hearing some of your musical influences in the show?

Yes definitely. I’m thinking of devoting an episode to the tracks and artists that have influenced me the most. I think it would be really interesting to hear those tracks in a back to back format.

  1. Do you plan to have any music guests?

Yes I do. I have quite a few friends who DJ and I certainly want to get them on as a guest. Beyond my friends there will certainly be invitations extended to DJ’s and producers whose music I like.

  1. What do you look for when choosing which music to feature in your mixes?

That’s a really good question as it’s not an easy one to answer. As I’m going through music to feature, some tracks immediately jump out as being a perfect fit for Dark Signals while others immediately get passed-by as not being “right” for the show.  I think the things that catch my attention in the tracks that I do feature are a stripped-back approach to production and they have a little bit of a darker sound to them.

  1. What do you think sets your radio show apart from others?

I think the biggest thing is my track selection. The show has and will have a certain sonic fingerprint. It’s definitely a reflection of the tracks that I make as well as DJ.

  1. What would you like to achieve with ‘Dark Signals’?

I hope to introduce listeners to artists, producers and music they might not have heard before. Beyond that I hope it serves as a way to share music that I like with others and allows listeners to get to know me as an artist and producer.

  1. Apart from the radio show, what are you currently working on?

I have a new single ‘Seek’, coming out May 16th on Milligrid Records (US). Beyond that, I’m working on new tracks for two forthcoming compilations as well as a couple of remixes. Later this year there will be another release on Milligrid as well as a new release on Internet & Weed (US).

  1. Where can we find your show?

You can listen to the show every Saturday at 6pm GMT on Inferno Radio out of Ireland as well as every Friday at 3pm GMT Cuebase FM out of Germany.
