Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Afrojack, releases his new track HERO in collaboration with David Guetta, who has twice been named best DJ in the world by DJ Mag. The song, co-written by Ellie Goulding, Stargate, Ryan Tedder and Jamie Scott, will be played during the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 22 May. Called Music Binds Us, Afrojack will perform during the interval act of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam together with Dutch top talents Glennis Grace and Wulf, accompanied by a classical youth orchestra. It is the first time in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest that a DJ performs the interval act during the final. The Eurovision Song Contest airs in 41 countries and is watched by over 200 million households annually.
HERO is an inspiring summer song and is a crossover between Pop and EDM. It carries a relevant message:there is a hero in everyone. That the smallest gestures can help and touch others, is what Afrojack and David Guetta want to emphasise with this song. Vocals are by Luxtides.
The world-famous DJ, born and raised in Spijkenisse, returns to his hometown Rotterdam with this performance. Afrojack performs with Glennis Grace and Wulf during the interval act of the Grand Final in Rotterdam and is supported by a youth orchestra that is specially assembled for this act. The song HERO is an extension of the Eurovision Song Contest theme, which is “Open Up” this year.
HERO is not the first collaboration between Afrojack and David Guetta. Previously, they achieved great success with songs like Titanium, Hey Mama and This One’s for You. That the Grammy-winning duo is still successful is shown by the ever growing number of streams (5,223,609,321) of their tracks. The cooperation for HERO arose from the long-term friendship between the DJs, and the will to present a summer song with a relevant message in these unpredictable times.
Afrojack about the upcoming release: “Working together with my brother David Guetta is always a pleasure, but it is also an honour to be able to collaborate with all the talented writers on this record: Ellie Goulding, Stargate, Ryan Tedder and Jamie Scott.”He proceeds: “This song is a return to our roots, with big melodies, big vocals, and a big drop. It’s amazing to be able to combine an amazing song with our festival style music.”
David Guetta continues: “Nick and I have been friends for so many years and have worked on some great songs in the past. So it’s great to finally release a record together again. And it’s been a pleasure working with such talented writers.”
