Avi Sic brings her decade long experience, hard-hitting sounds and her DJ skills to her newest project – her very own radio show by the name of ‘Late Checkout’. Delivering high energy performances that have set her apart from her peers, she has headlined festivals and shared the stage as support for household names like: Calvin Harris, Diplo, Cardi B, Doja Cat, Lil Wayne, Flo Rida, Jason Derulo, Lil Jon, RL Grime, Gryffin and many more.

Now, Avi Sic introduces her radio show, ‘Late Checkout’ that’s already gotten a lot of attention from fans all over the world. In this interview, Avi tells us more about this new endeavor and what’s to expect.

  1. Hey Avi, great to hear from you. First off, how are you?

I’m great! Stoked on this project.

  1. How did the idea to create a radio show first come about?

I’m a DJ first and foremost. I’ve always loved making mixes. I’ve done a lot of radio work in my past with KISS FM, iHEART, SiriusXM, and others – this was a logical next step. This way, I’m able to showcase my style with zero boundaries. I’ve always wanted to do a consistent series and share the music that I’m into.

  1. What genres of music will we be hearing?

It will be an open format show but with a big emphasis on electronic music. I don’t want to box myself into anything. LATE CHECKOUT will showcase my DJ style which is quicker mixes, high energy, rare cuts, live mashups and exploratory music. Expect to hear it all – house, tech, bass, future, hardstyle… sprinkled with some hip hop, indie dance, and throwbacks.

  1. Talk us through some of the artists you would like to have as guests on the show?

I have tons of guests in mind. As the show picks up steam we’re looking at some heavy hitters like Nicky Romero. I would love to have some bass heavy DJ’s/Producers such as Valentino Khan and Wuki. Also plan to have some A-List open format DJ’s guest here and there to keep it interesting. For the first handful of episodes though, it’s all me! Even with guests it’ll probably be a split, I plan to stay engaged on this project.

  1. What do you look for in a piece of music when deciding you want to use it in a mix?

If it gives me ‘bass face’ it’s an automatic yes lol. But really, I’m doing some deep digging here. Incorporating tracks that aren’t as popular along with more known songs (but lesser known remixes of them). I make tons of bootlegs and unofficial remixes as well as original tunes that will be mixed in. Also I love wordplay and tone play, that always keeps transitions interesting. I’m tough to please, so if the song speaks to me, any genre, I will use it. I’ll also be breaking quality new music on the show from other producer friends.

  1. For those who don’t know, what are some of your top releases?

With You was a success, it’s a progressive dance song with nostalgic vibes. In The Closet Ft. Stephen Voyce also did well. Drowning In Your Love with Trentino is a personal favorite.

  1. What is your opinion on the current dance music scene?

I love it! Tech house and bass driven dance, even garage has become semi mainstream now, I feel that it’s moving in the right direction. Can’t wait to keep evolving with the scene.

  1. What do you think will set your show apart from others?

Quality music, open format, and real DJing. Carefully curated tunes that are actually mixed in real time – high energy and quick mixes. The majority of Artist specific radio shows I hear have maybe 10 songs in an hour, expect to hear at least 30 songs on ‘Late Checkout’. Mine will feel like you’re at a live DJ set or festival.

  1. Which artists have impressed you recently?

I’m a music lover so this is tough. James Hype is dope. Cheyenne Gilles is heavy. I’m loving Morten & Guetta’s Future Rave project.

  1. Finally, where will we be able to hear your new show?

ROOM SERVICE ONLY! The radio show has just launched and will be syndicated globally, so stay tuned for live airing updates and more specific channel programming. Also every Monday, episodes of ‘Late Checkout’ will be posted on my SoundCloud and Mixcloud – those will be permanently available to stream at any time. Cheers!
