Behind The Scenes Of ‘Final’ with Terry Golden

Like opening up his memory chest filled with sounds, experiences and influences, Terry Golden released ‘Final’, a classic Trance track that uplifts and shows Terry’s full range as a music production powerhouse. With every release, Terry Golden claims his own space as one of the DJs to follow up close this year and ‘Final’ definitely does not disappoint.

  1. Hi Terry, great to hear from you. How are you?

All Covid restrictions have been lifted in Denmark, and 2022 is looking to go back to normal, so I am feeling really good.

  1. Does ‘Final’ have a story behind it?

I started out as a classical Trance producer, it’s like going back through my backcatalogue. I started with Trance, and Trance will always have a special spot in my life, so I thought it could be fun to make a new Trance track, with that super Saw – which I really love.

  1. Can we hear any of your musical influences in the track?

Yes, like I said, it’s really where I come from. So, early Armin Van Buuren and other great Trance producers were definitely my inspiration here,

  1. How does ‘Final’ differ from some of your other pieces?

It’s actually my first Trance song, which really has that hard hitting super saw in the build and drop section. I have been wanting to make that for a while, but I’ve been so busy that I never got around to it, but with ‘Final’ I can tik that box, and I am super happy with the result.

  1. How long did ‘Final’ take to make?

Ohhh, that’s really hard to say exactly, as it has been a process for a few months. It’s like the only project I have been working on, so it was a step-by-step process to finish – and who is counting right? …lol

  1. What do you feel is the most important element in releasing a track?

For me, it’s all about consistency, as my fanbase is building now, I believe it’s super important to release tracks regularly, so your fans don’t forget you. So, with a lot of new music and artists coming on the market, you want to be on top of your fans’ playlist etc…, until you get that huge hit, the best way is to release quality music regularly

  1. Do you have a typical process when writing a song?

Yes, I do. I always start with the drop, as that’s the most important part in the music genre I’m doing. Then I need to decide if the track needs vocals or not, as that impacts the rest of the song, how I build the intro, melody part, sweep downs, pads etc.

  1. Who would you love to collaborate with in 2022?

I already have quite a few collaborations ready or almost ready. But it would be a dream to collaborate with Morten and Armin Van Buuren, but really lots of super good producers. I would be proud of having my name on the same track as them.

  1. Whose creative opinion do you trust the most when it comes to your music?

I love to get feedback from anybody, but people who are in the industry I will always listen to. But in the end, I really trust my own intuition on what sounds good or not. I try not to think too much about what everybody else is doing, but focus on my own stuff.

  1. How do you balance producing with your other responsibilities?

Simple answer, I don’t …(Smiling). I do have a weekly schedule and to do’s which I try to follow and are quite tricky, but making music you can’t schedule, as you never know when it comes to you.

  1. What are your opinions on sampling?

I don’t really have an opinion, I do it to make cool parts for my music, so for me it’s a natural part of the creative elements you have at your disposal when creating new music, so nothing wrong with that.

  1. What is the best piece of advice anyone has given to you?

Be consistent and humble – don’t think that anyone will do anything for you, first you have to show the world what you are all about, then success might come to you,

  1. Can you let us in on what else you’ve got planned for this year?

Finally, we are back, so you will see me at quite a few festivals this summer. I will announce them in the coming months, so I’m very excited about that. Music-wise, I have a lot of super cool music coming as well, so you will see a lot more of me this year.
