As Miami Music Week surges to life, Cosmic Gate returns beyond performing, but as curators of their own world. For over two decades, they’ve played the biggest stages, including Ultra Miami’s ASOT arena, but 2025 brings something deeper: creative freedom. Their event “Wake Your Mind Miami” at La Otra in Wynwood (tickets here) offers full artistic control, a chance to shape sound, vibe, and community in a way festivals can’t replicate. Creative Freedom at La Otra
“At Ultra, we are guests of Ultra and Armin’s ASOT brand,” they explain, “while we and our WYM [Wake Your Mind] brand are hosts at La Otra.” That distinction matters. Hosting means more than performing. It means designing a musical and emotional arc. “Besides being the DJs, we’re meant to organize and pretty much run the show,” they add. That includes everything from programming the lineup to setting the tone of the night. With their longtime friend and collaborator Luccio helping coordinate the details, it becomes a true team effort. “Luccio is a huge help putting everything together for us from A to Z, thanks for your everlasting support Luccio!”
A Global Family, New Album, and Sunset Cruise
This year’s Miami Music Week celebration marks a milestone for Cosmic Gate: the release of “Perspectives EP 1,” the first chapter of their new album. Set for March 28, the release is tied directly into the event’s energy. “We bring a bunch of talented friends together from all over the globe,” they say. “The fans will be there especially for the music we all produce and stand for.” That shared energy fuels what they call a “very special and unique come together, like a big family, all going on a musical journey together.”
But Miami isn’t just about the club. Cosmic Gate will also return to one of their most beloved MMW rituals: their Miami Sunset Cruise. “For those who love to dance in the sun, join us Friday afternoon,” they share. The boat departs from 3 to 8 PM and sails with an open bar, a view of the skyline, and their signature sounds. “It’s always our favorite party of the year.”
Ultra Flashbacks, Trance, and Miami
As scene veterans, they’ve seen trance and progressive morph and move across continents and stages. While Ultra has leaned into techno with its Resistance brand, they see the genre’s spirit alive and well. “Funny enough, it seems, some of the artist playing music undoubtedly have trance roots,” they point out. Whether on Ultra’s mainstage or elsewhere, trance finds a way. “Trance and Trance artists always will be represented and keep the Trance flag up, on Ultra and elsewhere around the globe.”
Looking back, one memory still lingers. It wasn’t one of their mainstage appearances or a peak-time drop—it was their first-ever Ultra, all the way back in 2002. “We played a relatively small stage and were shooting the music video for our track ‘The Truth,’” they recall. Chaos followed. The crowd grew massive, blocking traffic, overwhelming the space, and capturing the raw spirit of early Ultra. “It was wild, chaotic but fun,” they laugh. That moment lives on in the video, a snapshot of the past still accessible online.
Surprise Guests and Dancefloor Legends
Surprise guests and back-to-backs are part of the Miami Music Week DNA, but Cosmic Gate admit that adding more people to their already two-person booth isn’t always ideal. “It seems not the most sense to come in and wait another 10 minutes till it’s time to mix again,” they joke. But not all surprises are behind the decks. Some of the best memories have been on the dancefloor. “Fadi from Aly & Fila together with Ruben De Ronde once famously danced in the middle of the fans,” they remember fondly. “Truly good times.”
A Story Still Unfolding
This year, Cosmic Gate continues to evolve. Not just as artists, but as storytellers, collaborators, and hosts. Their Miami events will be more than shows—they will be shared experiences, soundtracked by the duo’s signature style and deep-rooted connection to the global trance and progressive community.
Secure your spot and catch the duo this Miami Music Week at La Otra on Thursday, March 27 and at the Cosmic Gate Miami Sunset Cruise on Friday, March 28.
