Dennis Cartier Shared Insights About ‘Coffee In The Morning’ and his Debut Album ‘Passion’

  1. Hey Dennis! Glad to have you here to ask you some questions about your latest release ‘Coffee In The Morning’ but also about your debut album.

Thanks for having me and for the support on the track and my album. I really appreciate it!

  1. Can you please tell us the story behind ‘Coffee In The Morning’? How did it come to life and when?

‘Coffee In The Morning’ was the last track that I produced for my album ‘Passion’. As a child I never liked coffee, but when I got my first job I learned to drink coffee thanks to my former colleagues. A few years later I went to Italy, and there I learned to know the real espresso. Since then, I have been drinking two espressos every morning and one in the afternoon. Let’s say I’m a huge coffee lover. The idea came when I was drinking coffee in a coffee bar and then came the inspiration. I recorded sounds from that coffee bar, that’s how ‘Coffee In The Morning’ was born. By the way, the making of video is on my Instagram. Doing something you like and love is also a passion. For me coffee is also a passion, pure enjoyment of the taste. And of course as a DJ you sometimes need a coffee in the evening haha!

  1. Why should people listen to and stream the ‘Coffee In The Morning’?

People should listen to and stream ‘Coffee In The Morning’ for its upbeat, afro sound and its catchy. The song has a motivated, jazzy feel with a modern twist and is to put you in a good mood. The track is also a great way to start your day, as the title speaks of the joy of having a cup of coffee in the morning.

  1. How would you describe your sounds?

Southern influences with a House beat.

  1. Can you tell us more about your debut album as, for example, how many songs it has? What’s the most exciting song you worked on and can you also tell us more about the artists you collaborated with?

My debut album ‘Passion’ is an exploration of my most inner thoughts and feelings. It’s an album that I have put my heart and soul into. It’s a collection of songs that reflect my personal journey of self-discovery and growth. With this album I want to inspire people to discover and follow their own passions. Don’t be a sheep of society. Discover your own talents, because unfortunately due to the stress and pressure of society very few people don’t know what their talents are.

‘Passion’ has twelve songs that were produced between 2020 and 2022.

The title single ‘Passion (Your Dreams)’, is an uplifting track that will inspire you to never give up on your dreams.

The most exciting song that I worked on is ‘Don’t Let Go’, my very first track when I released it as an independent artist in 2020. If you hold strong to your convictions, go for it! This was why I started my own label, so I could release music that resonates with me. Don’t let go ;-)!

I had the pleasure of collaborating with three exceptionally talented artists on the album: British singer/songwriter Ollie Wade, who contributed the song ‘What You Wanna Say’, New York DJ/Producer Lohrasp Kansara, with the Latin House track ‘Solamente Tu’, and Mexican DJ/Producer Erick T, who contributed the track ‘The Ocean’.

  1. Who is Dennis Cartier and why music production? At what age did you get into music and how?

Dennis Cartier is a Belgian deejay, producer and artist with a passion for music. He blends house music with southern influences.

When I was 16, a classmate of mine had discovered the program Fl Studio, at that time it was called Fruity Loops. During the breaks while the rest of the class went outside, I stayed inside with my classmate to make music. I found this program to be quite fascinating, and to this day I still use Fl Studio for my productions.

As a DJ, I started DJing at the local bar on my 16th birthday. It was a bit of a novelty back then, but I just really enjoyed it, so I kept at it and eventually got the chance to perform each week. After a few years of honing my skills in front of a live audience, I got bigger opportunities down the line. It was an all-consuming passion and a hobby that I still love to do to this day – even more now!

  1. Do you remember the name of the first song you heard and you said ‘I want to be a music producer’?

I didn’t have a specific number in mind, but music-making seemed to come naturally to me. I remember when I was on the train to school, listening to the Sensation White livesets with my mp3 player, damn I’m starting to get old, and I was so moved by the energy of the crowd that I knew I wanted to experience that for myself.

  1. Can you tell us who’s your source of inspiration or what inspires you when you’re producing music?

My sources of inspiration used to be and still are Calvin Harris, Chocolate Puma, etc. When Calvin Harris played my track ‘Ooh’ (with Corx) in 2018, it was the best feeling I ever had. Someone you look up to who is playing your own song. I have a wide range of music taste, I started as a producer with Jumpstyle (Hardstyle), then Drum & Bass and since 2008 have focused on house music.

  1. What’s one thing you love doing in your free time when not producing music?

Drinking espressos, haha just joking. I’m a perfectionist. I do everything myself from social media, designing artwork, editing videos. I can’t sit still, if you don’t go forward you are actually going backwards

  1. What do you hope to achieve in the next 5 years in your professional career?

That one track that has the potential to transform my entire music career. I continue to pursue my passion. Currently, I’m collaborating with someone who also supports my album, but I can’t tell you more yet. I’m telling you a scoop here oops.. I hope that within the next five years, one of my upcoming tracks will gain chart success and allow us to embark on a world tour.

  1. This is all for now. Thank you for your time answering our questions. Where can our community find out more about your music and your future releases?
