People of Tomorrow from all corners of the world have made it to the first day of Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, witnessing this year’s breathtaking ‘LIFE’ Mainstage in all its glory for the very first time ever. For this year’s theme, Tomorrowland returns to the realm of ‘Elixir of Life’ (2016) – a story set in the mythical realm of Silvyra. It’s a world unto its own, filled with creatures, plant life, and people living in harmony, each with their own stories, with the diversity of Silvyra’s lush nature represented in the ‘LIFE’ Mainstage. In typical Tomorrowland fashion and following many years of tradition, the Tomorrowland Belgium 2024 Mainstage is 100% crafted in-house at Tomorrowland, from idea to realization. For over 2 years from first sketches to production, Tomorrowland’s in-house creative department worked tirelessly with passion and dedication to bring the magical stage to life. From the first concept sketches to 3D modeling and sculpting to production, every step is equally important to the final product. To have full control over the entire process, all steps are handled in-house, from the design by the Tomorrowland 3D department to execution by the Tomorrowland Atelier, building and installing the stage on the iconic festival grounds in De Schorre.
The return of a familiar tale
Tomorrowland’s special 20-year anniversary edition revolves around the theme ‘LIFE’ – the prequel of the 2016 ‘Elixir of Life’ theme – exploring the origin of this famous potion that heals all ailments of the mind and body. A story fueled by the ancient force of the cosmos, this will no doubt represent another mind-bending chapter in the greater story of Tomorrowland. ‘LIFE’ takes the People of Tomorrow back to a vibrant era in Silvyra, a mythical realm of lush nature, when the conjunction of the two moons is about to happen. The new theme shines a light on the origin of Mother Tree and her protector the Maze, the first brewage of the Elixir of Life and the genesis of the magnificent Rose Garden, all becoming iconic Tomorrowland elements many years later.
A creative process inspired by nature
From the logotype to the typeface and graphic shapes, all elements for this theme were inspired by the intricate patterns, textures, and forms found in nature, merging organic beauty with practicality. Translating these natural forms into a design involves a process that maintains the essence of nature while also telling the story. The result is a harmonious blend of the natural world’s elegance, and the fantastical elements of Silvyra.
