Saudi DJ and Producer Mohanned Nassar, better known as Vinyl Mode, has set his sights on new regional audiences with the release of “Eshg Alsamar” on MDLBEAST Records. Featuring the mesmeric vocals of countryman, actor, and writer, Moayad Alnefaie, the track tells a story of broken hearts and hope and was previously a favourite amongst Saudi’s underground dance community. Now, after growing locally on Soundcloud, Nassar is aiming to show the Middle East true Saudi talent with the new release through MDLBEAST Records.
Translating to “the love of the bronze-skinned”, “Eshg Alsamar” features an upbeat and energetic build-up of arpeggiated sounds with atmospheric links produced via analog sampling of electronic instruments. The Arabic lyrics are an ode to a heartbroken man taking control of his thoughts and emotions, all blended in light groovy beats, making for a rich merging of culture and tradition through music.
Following the track’s release, Mohanned Nassar, commented: “We know that Saudi Arabia is rich with culture and talent, but that’s not always clear to the rest of the world. I’m so proud to be able to take my track to beyond these borders, on this special day and hopefully allow new audiences from the region to experience the sounds of our country, our scene.”
He added, “The inspiration for the track came from wanting to empower and to build hope, so there’s a bit of extra meaning there as we take Saudi music to new audiences.”
An established DJ in the Jeddah underground scene, Nasser has been growing his profile, and connecting within the industry, locally and internationally. Following performances in France, Germany, Greece, Croatia, and the Middle East, he performed at Amsterdam Dance Festival in 2018 and at SOUNDSTORM 2019, writing. Vinyl Mode will return to SOUNDSTORM stage in 2021 at this year’s festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
