Faul & Wad have been making waves in the electronic music scene with their signature blend of Afro House, Latin House, and organic grooves. With the release of their debut album Therapy, the duo takes listeners on a journey through their musical evolution, blending deep emotion with infectious rhythms.
We caught up with them to discuss the vision behind the album, their creative process, and what the future holds.
1. Your debut album, Therapy, is finally out! What was the vision behind this project, and how does it represent where you are in your musical journey?
We wanted to create something that really represents who we are as artists. Therapy is a reflection of our journey so far, blending Afro House, Latin House and organic grooves that have always been at the core of our sound. It’s a mix of influences, emotions and the growth we’ve experienced over the years. It’s personal for us and we hope it resonates with listeners in the same way it resonates with us.
2. You’ve described Therapy as an exploration of different genres while staying true to your sound. Was there a particular track that pushed you out of your comfort zone during the creative process?
Definitely! One track that really pushed us out of our comfort zone was “Flores Blancas.” The vocals performed by the Colombian traditional singer Anly Marin were much more rooted in a traditional style when our DJ/producer friend 4rain sent them to us. It was super interesting to take those vocals, which weren’t originally electronic-oriented and work on turning them into something more club-oriented while still keeping the essence of the song intact. It was a fun and rewarding challenge for us!
3. Your music has always had a strong emotional core. How do you channel personal experiences and emotions into your production?
Music has always been a form of therapy for us. When we’re creating, we draw from our personal experiences and emotions. It’s almost like a way of processing what we’re feeling. We let the melodies and beats flow naturally and sometimes it’s the rhythms that help us express things words can’t. It’s a journey of self-discovery, and each track represents a different chapter of that.
4. Afro House and Latin House influences are central to this album. What drew you to these sounds, and how do you see them shaping the future of electronic music?
We’ve always loved the energy and soul in Afro and Latin rhythms. These sounds feel organic to us and bring a groove that’s hard to resist. They’re so rich in culture and history and we believe they have a huge future in electronic music. These genres have the power to bridge cultures and create an atmosphere that makes people feel connected and alive. They’re timeless, and we’re excited to see how they continue to evolve.
5. Your breakout hit “Changes” became a global phenomenon. How has your approach to making music evolved since that release?
“Changes” was a huge milestone for us and since then, our approach to making music has definitely evolved. We’ve gotten more experimental with different sounds and genres but we’ve stayed true to our roots. We still love organic grooves, melodies, and catchy beats. Over the years, we’ve learned to trust our instincts more and embrace the new ideas that come our way while keeping the essence of what makes our sound unique.
6. You’ve worked with incredible artists, from Francis Mercier to David Guetta. If you could collaborate with anyone next, who would it be and why?
We’d love to collaborate with more artists in the Afro House scene and House in general, any of the great talents pushing the boundaries of the genre. It really depends on the song though. We’re always open to collaborating with people who inspire us and we believe the chemistry between artists makes the collaboration special. We’re always excited to see what comes from unexpected partnerships!
7. Beyond the music, the album is called Therapy—do you see music as a healing force, and has this project helped you process anything personally?
Absolutely. Music has always been our therapy. It’s a way for us to connect with ourselves and others on a deeper level. Working on this album was cathartic, especially with everything we’ve gone through over the past few years. The process of creating and sharing this music has been healing for us both and we hope it provides a sense of comfort and release to anyone who listens to it.
8. You’ve performed at some legendary events and venues. Is there one show that stands out as a defining moment in your career?
One of the most memorable moments for us was performing “Sauti” with Francis Mercier at Pacha Ibiza. It was a huge moment in our career, it felt like everything came together in such a powerful way. The energy of the crowd, the vibe of the venue, it was electric. We hope to be back there soon
9. If you had to describe Therapy in just three words, what would they be?
Organic, vibrant, and healing.
10. Finally, what’s next for Faul & Wad? Any upcoming tours, remixes, or surprises fans should be looking forward to?
We’ve got some exciting things coming up! We’re looking forward to our shows this summer. We’ve got a few remixes in the works and we’re always working on new material to keep pushing the boundaries of our sound. Stay tuned, we’ve got a lot more music to share and some surprises for our fans!
