Few artists in electronic music have mastered the delicate balance of emotion and groove quite like Khen. With a career spanning over a decade, the producer and DJ has carved out a signature sound that fuses progressive, organic, and melodic house into a seamless and deeply moving experience. His latest album on All Day I Dream, My Pure Soul, has not only resonated with audiences worldwide but also made a mark by landing all three tracks in Beatport’s Top 10 for Organic House.
A Tribute in Sound: The Story of My Pure Soul
At the heart of Khen’s latest release My Pure Soul, is a deeply personal title track dedicated to his late father. Created during his father’s final days, the song captures the emotional weight of loss, yet carries a sense of hope and gratitude. “For me, every time I play it, I feel like he’s with me,” Khen shares. This emotional connection is what sets Khen apart; his music isn’t just for the dancefloor—it’s a journey of personal expression and storytelling.
The other two tracks on the EP, Lyub and Uchi Mata, showcase different facets of Khen’s sound. Lyub, a groovy, club-ready track, had been in his collection for years, tested and perfected on dance floors. Meanwhile, Uchi Mata came to life as a response to a request from DJ Lee Burridge, more groove-focused and less melodic to round out the EP. “It was a struggle to find the right track, but when I made this one, I knew it was the missing piece,” Khen explains.
Khen’s music thrives on contrast and balance. “I love contrast in music. If the melody is emotional, I keep the groove uplifting—or vice versa. That dynamic creates an interesting balance. My Pure Soul has a deep, emotional melody, but the groove keeps it alive. Even if my tracks aren’t aggressive, they’re always groove-driven, making them danceable. I don’t strictly define my sound—it’s progressive, it’s organic, it’s house—but in the end, it’s just me.”
Natural Fit: Joining All Day I Dream
Khen’s debut on All Day I Dream feels like a full-circle moment. A longtime admirer of the label’s signature deep, melodic, and organic sound, Khen always felt a connection to its sonic identity. “It feels natural,” he says. “I’ve loved this sound since the beginning. When I released my album on Lost & Found in 2016, Lee Burridge played a couple of my tracks a lot. Now, years later, I’m officially part of the label.”
The synergy between Khen’s music and All Day I Dream is undeniable. His release under the label showcases three distinct yet cohesive tracks that embody his signature balance between emotional depth and groove-driven rhythms.
Finding a Home: Khen’s Journey with Labels and His Own Imprint
Khen’s sound exists in a unique space—somewhere between progressive house, organic house, and deep, melodic grooves. While he has released music on iconic labels such as Anjunadeep, Lost Miracle, Bedrock Records, All Day I Dream, Plattenbank Records and others, he felt there was a missing link —a home for music that fell in between the defined genres. This led to the creation of his own label, Closure, in 2023.
“Every label has its own path, and some of my tracks didn’t quite fit anywhere,” he explains. “Closure is exactly where my style is—in the middle of everything I love: progressive but groovy, melodic but organic.” With Closure, Khen has not only given himself a creative sanctuary but has also became a home for artists like Eli Nissan and Juan Yarin, whose unique styles align with his vision.
Khen’s relationship with Anjunadeep dates back to 2018, when he released his track Closing Doors on the label. Over the years, his contributions have brought a fresh perspective to Anjunadeep’s melodic catalog. “I think I brought something a little different to Anjunadeep — still very melodic but with a twist,” he reflects. With his fresh approach to melodic house, he’s carved out a distinctive place on the label.
Eli Nissan & Khen: A Bond Beyond Music
Few collaborations in progressive music carry the warmth and history that Khen and Eli Nissan share. Their relationship dates back to Khen’s childhood when Eli worked with his older brother DJ & Producer, Vic. “I’ve known Eli since I was six or seven years old. He was always around.”
Years later, their paths naturally converged, “Ten years ago, Eli started making music again and called me. We became close friends, and now we talk ten times a day—not just about music.” Their chemistry extends beyond the studio, lighting up DJ booths worldwide. “When we play together, there’s a different vibe.” It is evident every time they perform together. “We’re like father and son,” Khen jokes.
What’s Next For Khen?
With My Pure Soul making waves and his label Closure growing, Khen’s future is quite exciting. Fans can expect upcoming releases that continue to explore the balance between melody and groove. “The next release will be on No Drama —two tracks, more underground, less dreamy, but still very much my style.”
For those eager to catch him live, Khen will be performing at Balance Festival in Sri Lanka, in a B2B with Eli Nissan, delivering the immersive experience his fans have come to love. If you are looking for tickets, you can find them here.
As for the possibility of a back-to-back set with his brother Vic? “One day, yes,” he says with a smile.
