Reinier Zonneveld on The Future of Techno and Its New School

Reinier Zonneveld breaks down his new track "Just Wanna Dance" with Alok, K1LO, and MadGuss, plus his vision for Filth on Acid in 2025.

Techno DJ and label boss, Reinier Zonneveld didn’t hesitate when Alok, K1LO, and MadGuss sent him the first version of “Just Wanna Dance.” The energy was undeniable. He immediately saw its potential and began tweaking it while on tour, testing the track in his live sets. “The crowd reaction was huge, and I’m very happy with how the release turned out,” he shares. Zonneveld thrives on spontaneity in collaborations, always open to new sounds and fresh creative input.

Filth on Acid: Breaking Boundaries in 2025

Since launching Filth on Acid in 2017, Reinier Zonneveld has refused to conform to rigid genre expectations on techno and electronic music. His vision for the label remains clear—release music he loves, regardless of style or trend. “That’s why our roster ranges from Angerfist and Paul Elstak to Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber. If we like it, we go for it!” he explains. The label continues to evolve, pushing techno into new territories, with 2025 promising even more boundary-breaking releases.

Balancing Signature Sound and Innovation

Zonneveld constantly seeks inspiration from unexpected collaborations. Working with artists from different musical backgrounds challenges him to explore new ideas. “If it clicks, you can come up with ideas you’d never find alone,” he says. He doesn’t overthink how the final track will fit within a specific style. Instead, he trusts the process—if it works in his live sets, he releases it. To him, an artist’s identity will always shine through in the final product.

The Moment of Realization: Just Wanna Dance

From the first completed version, “Just Wanna Dance” had undeniable power. Zonneveld and his collaborators knew immediately that the track would wreak havoc on dance floors. Testing it live only confirmed their instincts—it was built to destroy clubs.

Live Sets as a Creative Lab

For Zonneveld, the feedback loop between artist and audience is essential. His live performances serve as a testing ground for new ideas. “I adjust things on the fly, rewrite melodies, or even create something from scratch in the moment,” he reveals. The adrenaline and raw energy of performing inspire him in ways the studio cannot. Whether in a hotel room, a plane, or a car, he channels that energy into new productions.

The Future of Techno and Its New School

Techno is undergoing a transformation, with a new generation refusing to adhere to rigid stylistic rules. Reinier Zonneveld embraces the techno shift. “The new generation doesn’t care about sticking to a single recognizable style. They’re pushing techno into exciting new directions,” he says. He’s proud to share his music on massive stages and with listeners worldwide. As for what’s next? “I will give everything to keep making new things as good as I can.”

A Peak-Time Anthem

“Just Wanna Dance” is a dark, high-energy techno cut designed for peak-time destruction. Its driving kicks, raw synths, and flashing acid motifs make it an electrifying addition to Zonneveld’s arsenal. Trance-like breakdowns and strobe-lit pads elevate the intensity, ensuring maximum impact.

Reinier Zonneveld, alongside Alok, K1LO, and MadGuss, has crafted a club banger that embodies the relentless spirit of modern techno.
