Earlier this year, Spotify acquired the leading streaming app ‘Anchor’ for an estimated $140 million and the next move for the Swedish-born streaming service seems obvious: the podcast industry.
Jane Manchun Wong, who’s finding incoming features by reverse engineering popular apps from their backend, including Facebook and Instagram, found a feature called ‘Create Podcast’ that Spotify is working on.
The button is expected to allow anyone with a smartphone to record and publish podcasts straight from their phones.
The company expects that eventually 20 percent of all of their streaming will be non-music content.
