- Hey Sylvermay! Glad to have you here to talk with you about your latest release ‘Ayutthaya’.
Hey! Thanks for having me. I’m excited to talk about ‘Ayutthaya’—this track is special to me, and I can’t wait to share more about its journey.
- Can you please tell us more details about ‘Ayutthaya’? How did it come to life and when?
‘Ayutthaya’ is a tribute to my journey through Thailand and the deep energy I felt while exploring the historic city of Ayutthaya. Walking through its ancient ruins, I was captivated by the blend of history, spirituality, and timeless beauty. That experience stayed with me, and I knew I had to turn it into music.
With this track, I wanted to capture the essence of Ayutthaya—its mysticism, grandeur, and the emotions it evoked. Using my AXSR style, I fused a spiritual ambiance with driving basslines, creating an immersive sonic journey. My goal was to make listeners feel like they were walking through those ancient streets, absorbing the history and energy that inspired me.
- Can you tell us more about the new alias AXSR and what it sets apart from Sylvermay?
AXSR is more than just an alias—it’s a concept, a vision. It stands for ‘Audio Xperience for Sensory Response,’ and it’s all about creating music that feels organic and cinematic—a journey rather than just a track. Unlike Sylvermay, which delivers high-energy, main-floor trance built for the dancefloor, AXSR explores music that evokes emotional, physical, and spiritual responses. It gives me the freedom to move beyond club music and experiment with more expansive, emotive soundscapes.
- How would you describe your sound?
My sound is centered around emotion, energy, and atmosphere—music that connects with people on a deeper level. Whether I’m creating as Sylvermay or AXSR, my goal remains the same: to craft music that resonates with listeners and leaves a lasting impact.
- Who is Sylvermay aka AXSR and why music? At what age did you get into music and how?
Sylvermay is who I am every day—more than just a DJ and producer. It’s about being an artist who values the power of music to connect and inspire. For me, it’s not only about the tracks I create but also about supporting the community and my peers. Collaboration and shared passion are at the heart of what I do, and building connections with others is just as important as the music itself.
I’ve been into music since I was 7 years old. I had an old piano and synth that I loved to play with. I quickly realized I could play melodies I’d heard by ear, which motivated me to create my own music.
Music has always been my way of expressing emotions and connecting with others. As I grew, I started DJing because I wanted to share my music with the world and engage with audiences through live experiences.
Sometimes, creating music feels like connecting with a deeper energy—something that flows through my mind, guiding what to play and which sounds to use. It feels as if the music itself directs the process.
I believe music has this incredible power to evoke emotion and bring people together. That’s why I’m so driven to create it.
- Do you remember the name of the first song that made you love electronic music?
Yes! The first song that made me fall in love with electronic music was Gouryella – Ligaya. The melody and emotional depth really resonated with me, and that track inspired me to create music that could bring out those same feelings in others.
- Who or what has been your biggest inspiration throughout your music journey?
Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre are my electronic music heroes, and they’ve had a significant impact on my sound. But beyond them, my biggest inspiration is life itself—the ups and downs we experience. The emotions we go through are what truly drive me to create music. I try to capture the essence of those moments and translate them into sound.
- What’s the one activity you love doing in your free time when not making music?
Traveling. It’s a great way to clear my mind and break from the usual routine. I love discovering new places and cultures around the world, and those experiences often inspire fresh ideas for my music.
- Can you tell us more about your dream and future collaboration and what do you hope to achieve in the next 2 years in your professional career?
In the next couple of years, I want to keep pushing my creative boundaries. I’d love to collaborate with artists who inspire me, whether they’re in electronic music or other genres. I believe working with different artists can lead to exciting and unexpected outcomes. I’m also aiming to reach a broader audience, play at larger festivals, and connect with people on a deeper level.
My goal is to continue growing as an artist, exploring new sounds, and evolving. At the end of the day, I want to create music that truly resonates and leaves a lasting impact.
