Whisnu Santika on his New Single and Promising Future of Indonesian Bounce

Whisnu Santika is expanding his sound with “J-Town,” blending house and techno with Indonesian influences. Here’s what’s next for him.

Whisnu Santika continues to evolve, and his new single, “J-Town,” marks a bold step forward. The track fuses house and techno elements with his signature Indonesian influences, reflecting his commitment to growth. “J-Town” is my first release with house and techno influences, two genres gaining massive attention worldwide,” Whisnu explains. He sees an opportunity to introduce these sounds to new markets, where interest is rising but remains untapped.

Beyond just the single, Whisnu has experimented with these styles in previous edits like “Stay High” and “Vois Sur Ton Chemin.” With “J-Town,” he aims to expand the reach of these sounds while staying true to his identity.

Indonesian Bounce: A Movement with Global Potential

Whisnu Santika has been at the forefront of Indonesian Bounce, a genre blending Baile Funk, Dutch House, Breaks, and Brazilian influences. The movement took off during the pandemic, as the absence of international artists gave local talent a chance to rise. Indonesia’s massive population plays a crucial role in supporting this sound, offering a solid foundation for global expansion.

Whisnu believes that if the genre continues to thrive in Indonesia, it could naturally gain traction on the world stage. “If this sound is embraced locally, it could pave the way for global growth,” he says.

Adapting to Global Festival Stages

Performing at massive festivals like Tomorrowland and Djakarta Warehouse Project requires adaptability. Whisnu always researches the audience before stepping on stage. “I don’t just play a safe set filled with crowd favorites. I also introduce my own songs to reach new audiences,” he explains.

He appreciates how major festivals curate diverse lineups, giving emerging talents a chance to showcase their unique styles. This exposure has helped him build a fanbase that transcends cultural barriers.

Creating Music That Inspires Joy

For Whisnu, music is a universal language that brings people together. His productions are often described as energetic and uplifting, a reflection of his philosophy. “I love making danceable tracks because music transcends borders. It’s a powerful way to express emotions,” he shares.

Whether through festival anthems or club-ready bangers, Whisnu’s mission remains the same: to create music that entertains and inspires.

Dream Collaborations and Expanding His Sound

The rise of collaborations in dance music excites Whisnu. He has a dream list of artists he hopes to work with, including David Guetta and Tiësto, both legends in the scene. He also admires Meduza and John Summit, known for their melodic yet club-ready sounds.

“Dom Dolla and Fisher always bring high energy, while DJ Snake’s creativity is unmatched. And, of course, Steve Aoki’s global reach is inspiring,” he says. These collaborations could elevate his music to even greater heights. “There’s still a long way to go, but dreaming big doesn’t cost anything, right?”

The Road Ahead: Whisnu 2.0 in 2025

With the year off to a strong start, Whisnu is focused on evolution. He teases upcoming collaborations that span multiple genres and feature well-established artists with loyal fanbases. “Our shared goal is simple: to keep creating music for people to enjoy,” he says.

For Whisnu, this is just the beginning. “My journey is just getting started. I’m determined to keep growing and reaching new heights through my music.”
