Blasterjaxx’s Soundtrack from Watch Dogs: Legion is now Available

Watch Dogs Legion will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Windows PC from the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store from Oct 29, 2020.

Ubisoft® announced today that the highly-anticipated video game, Watch Dogs®: Legion, is now available worldwide. Dutch DJ and producer duo Blasterjaxx have created an exclusive track called ‘Legion’ as well as an action-packed music video directed by James Chappell to celebrate the launch. The pulsing energy of Blasterjaxx’s Big Room record serves as a complimentary addition to the world of Watch Dogs: Legion. ‘Legion’ is out now on Maxxximize Records.

Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, as the duo are known outside of their artist alias, are big video game enthusiasts and saw the ultimate collaboration in Watch Dogs Legion. “A year ago, we were asked by Ubisoft to come up with a promo track for their new game Watch Dogs Legion, from the get-go we found the partnership incredibly cool. Combining Gaming with Music resulted in an entirely new way of producing” explains Blasterjaxx.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, London is facing its downfall. Amidst the growing unrest of a restless London, an unknown entity named Zero-Day has framed secret underground resistance DedSec for coordinated bombings across London. Drawing inspiration from the trailer and graphics of the game, the Dutch duo approached the record with an enigmatic, mysterious theme. Utilising vocals that mirror the vibe of the game, Idir himself sings on the track adding to the dark, depth of the record.

Taking the release to new heights, Ubisoft®, Spinnin’ Records and Blasterjaxx joined forces with Australian director James Chappell, who has previously worked with the likes of Tiësto, Armand Van Helden, The Bloody Beetroots and many more. In collaboration with Apostle Digital, Blasterjaxx’s ‘Legion’ was shot in Sydney, Australia in Victorian era locations such as Museum station and other industrial underground spaces to replicate the vibe of future London showcased in the video game. Relying on real locations, fight choreography, stunts and pyrotechnics the world is captured with additional VFX to enhance the video and deliver future tech elements.

“My intent was to craft a propulsive live action narrative that reflects the video game visuals and storyline. This music video involves a group of DedSec hackers (as seen in the game) as they fight back against Albion, an evil private security force who have taken over London. Using hacking devices and future tech, this unlikely motley crew of badass civilians band together to outwit and take back their city using their intelligence and brute force.” comments James Chappell.

Watch Dogs Legion will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Windows PC from the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store from Oct 29, 2020. The game will also be available for Xbox Series X and S from November 10, 2020 and for PlayStation 5 from November 12. Players who purchase Watch Dogs Legion on current consoles will receive a free next-gen upgrade to Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Finally, the game will be part of UPLAY +, Ubisoft’s subscription service.
