BLOND:ISH’s Nonprofit Bye Bye Plastic Launches Sustainability Mentorship Program, Stay’ge Positive, To Help Artists Implement Climate Change In The Music Industry

Geared as a tool for artists to tune into their green’fluential voice, the four-week online course debuts May 3, 2021, and is custom crafted for artists who wish to take part in climate action, navigating this positioning as part of their career

With festivals and venues shuttered due to the pandemic, a recent study conducted by Bye Bye Plastic found that more than 570 million pounds of single-use plastic was saved from going to waste in 2020. In light of this forced pause, BLOND:ISH and her team at Bye Bye Plastic created an opportunity to reshape the way the industry talks about climate action, launching their Stay’ge Positive program. Debuting May 3, 2021, the program, which aims to grow climate action confidence as part of artists’ career, will take place over a four-week period. It will include classes both live and pre-recorded, allowing access for changemakers from around the world. Registration for the workshop has begun here.

“Our hope with Stay’ge Positive is to educate artists on serious environmental issues in a way that drives true change. Over the years, we’ve seen how often artists let their fears of saying the wrong thing limit their voice around climate action. An artist’s voice is so powerful to motivate change! We’ve built this program to mentor artists so that they’re fully equipped to make the greatest impact. We can live big and keep the party alive, we just have to learn to do it sustainably and responsibly,” said Camille Guitteau, co-founder of Bye Bye Plastic.

The foundation’s female-powered team of music insiders creates sustainable movements that activate the collective power of the music industry to restore balance to our planet. This includes the Eco-Rider, part of their #PlasticFreeParty pledge, which has been signed by over 1,500 DJs globally, and the Greener Sounds Workshop, which is now available to watch for free.

Divided into 4 progressive modules, Climate Change 101, In-Power Yourself, Tune Your Voice, and Tune Your Creativity, the mentorship program will take place over the course of four-weeks, with two-classes per week. Priced at $471 / 399€, the program offers networking opportunities, an interactive platform, a resource hub, and various leadership masterclasses led by a panel of industry experts such as Harald Fried, Laura Williams, and BLOND:ISH herself.

“With touring starting up again and festivals reopening, it’s important now, more than ever, to ensure we set ourselves up for success. By providing these tools to artists and industry professionals alike, we are hoping to create solid foundations and a step towards a greener future together” said Vivie-Ann Bakos aka BLOND:ISH, international DJ and co-founder of Bye Bye Plastic. “We can’t go back to a reality where plastic is omnipresent. I knew I had to use my voice and my music to provoke a serious change in the industry. I’m excited to partake in this program and can’t wait to discuss these important topics with everyone – who’s in?”
