Sung entirely in English, Obscentra is built as an immersive exploration of human dualities, fragility and strength, innocence and seduction, pain and rebirth. Across 12 tracks, an intro, and a bonus cut, Alessiah moves listeners through shadows and light, each beat capturing the delicate balance between vulnerability and power.
Sonically, the album intertwines electronic, R&B, and trap influences. Distorted textures and glitch-driven rhythms are elevated by Alessiah’s hauntingly delicate yet commanding voice, resulting in a sound that is both intimate and dance-inducing.
“This album is a mirror of the most hidden corners of my soul. It’s about illusions, mistakes, and the realization that, sometimes, we are the ones who hurt ourselves the most,” says Alessiah.
With production crafted by Vanotek, Mihai Ristea, Rian Cult, Feenom, and Alexandru Ioniță, the record achieves a rare blend of minimalism and intensity, a cinematic darkness that pushes the boundaries of independent music in Romania.
Obscentra’s World: From Studio to Stage
The album’s universe came alive at an unforgettable launch event hosted in an industrial warehouse. More than 500 guests were immersed in a live experience where music, visuals, and dance converged into a hypnotic narrative. Directed by choreographer Cristian Miron, the performance transformed the stage into a living organism every note translated into motion, every gesture into story.
Special guests Rosie, Luana Genevieve, Papi, Dezvalido, and Tobi Ibitoye elevated the evening with diverse energies and powerful performances, reinforcing Obscentra’s global spirit.
This premiere marks a milestone for Romania: Obscentra is not only the first full-length dark pop album in English by an independent Romanian artist, but also a bold declaration of artistic independence and creative freedom.
