Its Official: Fred again Reveals USB002 Project

Launching with a Twitch stream and cryptic billboard hinting at 10 songs across 10 cities, the vinyl releases on December 12.

Fred again.. has unveiled USB002, the next chapter of his “infinite” album experiment, confirmed with a cryptic billboard on Instagram. The sign read “10 weeks, 10 cities, 10 songs,” sparking speculation about how this format will unfold. On his official store, the vinyl edition is already listed, scheduled to ship on December 12th, twelve weeks from now. Fresh off a succession of Victory Lap collaborations, the timing suggests a carefully structured rollout, with songs arriving steadily across the coming weeks, each possibly tied to a new city.

To mark the beginning, Fred Again hosted a Twitch stream titled “day 1 of usb002,” which hinted strongly that new music would drop immediately. Fans now wait to hear whether the first song appears today or tomorrow. The mystery lies in the meaning of 10 cities.”

Some believe it may reference ten live performances, while others suggest collaborative projects. The billboard’s simplicity leaves room for interpretation, but it ensures attention remains fixed on the project’s unfolding journey.

Looking Back at USB001

The USB series separates itself from Fred again..’s more reflective albums by focusing almost exclusively on club-focused collaborations and powerful floor-ready tracks. The first installment, USB001, arrived in June 2024 as a limited double vinyl, cementing the project’s status as a living catalogue. It featured some of Fred’s most recognisable club records, including “Baby Again..,” “Rumble” with Skrillex and Flowdan, and “Jungle.” Alongside these came contributions from Nia Archives, Rico Nasty, and HAAi, who reworked several tracks into new shapes.

Fred describes the USB concept as a “living album,” a constantly shifting playlist resembling a DJ’s USB stick of dependable tracks. Unlike traditional albums, which remain fixed, this project evolves continuously, adapting as new songs emerge and collaborations develop.

The digital edition updates like a playlist, while milestones like USB001 receive physical releases that canonise certain tracks into vinyl history. With USB002, Fred seems ready to extend that philosophy further, blending live experiences, collaborations, and physical formats. The question now is whether the “ten cities” will redefine how fans engage with his music in real time.

This story will be updated as new details emerge.
