- Hey SHWAY! Glad to have you here to talk with you about your latest release ‘Somebody Somewhere’.
- Thank you! I’m excited about this track
- Can you please tell us more details about ‘Somebody Somewhere’? How did it come to life and when?
- Somebody somewhere came to life when I wanted to follow up my previous successful single Solo. I wanted to make a track that was special to me and an ode to progressive house which made me fall in love with dance music in the first place. After creating an emotional chord progression, we sent it off to Aidan (singer) and back came Somebody Somewhere. This was around November of 2023.
- What sets ‘Somebody Somewhere’ apart from your previous work, and why should listeners tune in?
After tinkering around with the production of the track and really dialling in the bassline, the song shines as a vocal sing-along and club track equally. I believe people will resonate with it not only because of production, but the relatable vocal of somebody somewhere out there for you. It gives you hope.
- How would you describe your sound?
My sound is definitely melody based progressive house, but I’m always trying to grow the sound and I believe with somebody somewhere we’ve hit a new milestone. Power bass sliding grooves with euphoric melodies and vocal make this track ear candy.
- Who is SHWAY and why music? At what age did you get into music and how?
- My real name is Josh and the name Shway comes from a nickname my coworker game me a few years back and it stuck. I’ve been obsessed with melodic music since as far as I can remember. Getting into college started my Djing career. I’ve been playing in clubs and around Vancouver and BC for the last 13 years. After playing music for so long I decided I wanted to make my own to articulate how I feel about it.
- Do you remember the name of the first song that made you love electronic music?
- First song would be Feel The Vibe by Axwell. The groove and melody captured me instantly.
- Who or what has been your biggest inspiration throughout your music journey?
- Definitely Axwell, from his brand, magical music and overall presence it just captivates me. He’s an artist I truly respect.
- What’s the one activity you love doing in your free time when not making music?
- Going to my Cabin on the Sunshine Coast in B.C with my girlfriend and my daughter. I also love going boating.
- Can you tell us more about your dream and future collaboration and what do you hope to achieve in the next 3 years in your professional career?
My dream for my music career is to constantly evolve my music production skills to the point where I’m able to articulate when I’m feeling into sound. It’s a never-ending journey, but a very fulfilling one. I’ve had a collaboration with Brennan Heart so for the future, I’d love to do it again;). In the next three years, I’d like to create a brand that’s a household name for progressive house.
- This is all for now. Thank you for your time answering our questions. Where can our community find out more about your music and your future releases?
