June 2026, Monday 1st (starting at 5:00 PM), Ferrara is ready to welcome the best of global trance music: Sottomura Open Air hosts the third edition of Spirit of Trance, a one-day festival that will bring top names such as Aly & Fila, Bryan Kearney, Ferry Corsten, Giuseppe Ottaviani, John O’Callaghan, and Paul Van Dyk.
This event is already attracting significant attention from trance fans worldwide, confirming that trance is one of the most international electronic genres, with very active communities in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and even online. Dedicated festivals and major events in the field attract people from all over the world, creating a shared culture of energy, connection, and belonging. In Italy, all of this will translate once again this year into the one-day Spirit of Trance festival.
Egyptian duo Aly & Fila were among the very first electronic artists to ever perform at the Pyramids of Giza; true national heroes, their Future Sound of Egypt project has created a system encompassing radio shows, festivals, evenings, and musical productions. Giuseppe Ottaviani, an Italian DJ and producer and a leading exponent of the trance genre, has once again confirmed his place in DJMag’s Top 100 DJs this year, ranking 89th. “Astra” is his brand new single, released a few days ago on Armada Music. Paul van Dyk, a German DJ guru, is the creator of the song “For An Angel”, which has become a global dance anthem and has been performed numerous times in orchestral form. He has just launched VANDIT Next Generation, a talent scouting and mentoring initiative designed to discover, support, and promote the next generation of electronic music producers globally.
“Spirit of Trance is the second of our series of events dedicated to quality electronic music on one stage: Ferrara Summer Festival – explains Fabio Marzola, patron of the Ferrara Summer Festival and owner of Madame Butterfly, also in Ferrara – After Il Gatto & La Volpe in Afterhour June 1st we’re bringing the best of global trance to Ferrara for the third consecutive year; our trilogy concludes on Friday, June 20th with a live performance by Paul Kalkbrenner”.
