WHICH PLUGINGS DO YOU NEED?
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PLUGINS?
After the first fundamentals of producing we are going to look which vst’s you need to create your own sounds. I would recommend a few to start with: RefX Nexus, Sylenth1, Serum and Massive. If you start with these plug-ins you can build your own tracks from scratch. It’s also good to use Splice in your tracks. You can search and download samples very fast and use them in your projects.
WHAT TO DO NEXT?
Now you are ready to begin making music you need to think about the style of music that you want to make. If you don’t know this already it’s good to turn on Spotify and search for tracks that you really like. Choose your own top ten tracks and write down why you love them so much. After that it’s time to search for sounds first. What kinda pianos do they use in their tracks, which kick, bass and other sounds do you hear. First you must learn to hear what are the sounds they really use. When you know their fundamentals it’s easier to start building your own tracks. Choose one reference track that you really like and try to create the same kinda sounds and melodies. Watch out that is not literally a copy of course. Try to tweek and make sounds different. For example when you like a sound try to put some effects on it like a guitar amp, distortion or what you think that should work!
BUILDING YOUR OWN TRACKS
Now you are ready to go. I always start with a melody. It’s also good to sit down with a sing and songwriter. When you have a good vocal it’s a faster way to build up your track to that point that you want. Of course it’s important that you first figure out how the Software works that you wanna use. There are a lot of Youtube videos online.
