Talking To Legendary Blasterjaxx About Their Latest Collaboration With Armin van Buuren And More

Following on from their 2020 collab Tarzan, Armin van Buuren, and Blasterjaxx hammer down hard with their second-ever, stage-destroying link-up. Debuted on the mainstage of Ultra Music Festival, Superman confidently stands its ground to instill hope, resilience, and strength into all who need it.

On this occasion, we got to speak with Blasterjaxx and learn more about this collab, their lives, love for music, and more.

Guys, so cool to have you here today! How is everything in your life going right now?

We’re doing great! We’ve had a lot of time to spend in the studio, and the results are there. We created loads of new music.

You just dropped a brand new banger with Armin van Buuren, must say that it sounds insane! Tell us more about it.

After our first collaboration, Tarzan, we wanted to create a new one. Armin went to Sweden to work together with the fantastic singer 24H. They’ve created the amazing vocals for Superman. The song was called Happy Sad at first, but Armin didn’t like the negative side of the lyrics, so we’ve decided to change it and make it positive. After the vocals were finished, Armin sent us the idea that he had in mind and asked us to create a powerful drop. We tried a couple of ideas but couldn’t determine what should be best. Then Thom came up with an idea to give the drop a pirate theme; this was when Idir started playing some pirate melodies until this one came up. We’ve sent this to Armin, and he was blown away! After a couple more tweaks, there was SUPERMAN

This is not your first collaboration with Armin, you already have some crazy releases in the past! How come that every time you guys get together something mind-blowing comes out of it?

We have good chemistry together. Trance influences together with Bigroom work great.

What does a day in the studio look like for you? as making such iconic music requires a lot of inspiration I’d imagine!

Back in the day, we worked a lot at night. This was also because we had school during the day. Most of these times, we worked all night making our dreams come true. Now our studio days are a bit different. Our day starts at 10 AM; we begin with our daily meeting until 11 AM. After this, we head into our studio. At this moment, we have more than 15 projects lying down to work on. So most of the time, we decide what we’ll work on each day. The most important thing for us is to keep a clear ear and mind, so we don’t work on the same tracks all day long but switch between projects. We will work until 6/7 PM, then go home and get dinner. Mainly after dinner, there’s a little more (home)studio time to tweak the things we’ve worked on earlier that day.

What is next for Blasterjaxx? Any big plans you’d like to share with us?

Big shows, more music. Making our brand bigger in any way possible. We have loads of amazing collaborations coming up…

Where can we catch you guys live this summer?

Keep an eye on our socials or our website www.Blasterjaxx.com for more information about our summer tour!

Last one, if you could be an animal for a day, what would you be and why?

Thom would be an Owl so that I can fly. Idir would be a Sloth just to hang and chill all day.

Any message for all your fans?

We appreciate all your support!!! Thanks to our fans for being able to do what we do. We’ve mentioned before that there will be some more side steps when it comes to music in the following years, and… PLENTY OF BIGROOM!!!
