Ever since the release of Party earlier this year, Tsu Nami has been an immense fan-favorite within the bitbird community and beyond. From tripling her Spotify followers since her first release, to debut gigs at Splash House and laying down incredible sets at virtual events like bitbird’s Create Together online party, and frequently going viral on TikTok with her witty internet banter, she’s proving that her trajectory is unstoppable. Today, Tsu Nami returns with a dancehall-inspired tune called Dream About You (feat. Luma), a single that only further solidifies her staying power.
On the track style, Tsu Nami says “I stumbled upon a dancehall song on TikTok and the rhythm was super addicting, I wanted to incorporate some of those elements into this beat.” In the lyrics, Luma adds “this song is a tribute to the connections and relationships we have that don’t always last but tend to keep a certain place; sometimes it’s just time well spent and I wanted to write a song about that feeling.” The two certainly created an earworm of a track with an infectious and lighthearted melody you’ll find yourself humming along to at one listen.
The Korean-American producer doesn’t just make bops though – she speaks up for what she believes in and is an activist for equal rights within the music industry. This new track, for example, is an entirely woman-made collaboration, and with every release Tsu Nami shares, she hopes to inspire other women to claim their space on an often male-dominated career path. She was also recently featured in a Forbes piece where she spoke about her artist experience in conjunction with her Asian-American heritage, and has done several fundraisers shows for various causes near and dear to her.
You can currently catch Tsu Nami supporting San Holo on an extensive US tour, and when she returns to her home in Los Angeles, she’ll head back to the studio to focus on an exciting and much-anticipated debut EP. Stay tuned for lots of amazing happenings for the rising producer we’ve come to know and love as Tsu Nami!
