A New Alpine Chapter: Caprices Festival 2026 Moves To Gstaad

After more than two decades etched into the snow above Crans-Montana, Caprices Festival is moving.

For its 2026 winter edition, Caprices Festival 2026 will take place in Eggli, Gstaad, Switzerland, marking a considered shift rather than a clean break. It’s a change that feels less like reinvention and more like recalibration. One that reflects how the festival has always operated: patiently, deliberately, and in close dialogue with its surroundings.

Since the early 2000s, Caprices has played a quiet but influential role in shaping what a mountain festival can be. Long before alpine electronic events became a global format, Caprices was already exploring how sound behaves at altitude; how music, architecture and landscape could coexist without one overpowering the other.

Eggli offers a different kind of canvas. Perched high above the Gstaad valley, the site opens up to a 360-degree panorama of the Swiss Alps, trading the familiarity of Crans-Montana for a setting that feels broader, more expansive. Importantly, the move also allows the festival to build using existing infrastructure, improving protection from the elements while refining acoustics, flow and comfort.

“Caprices has always been about the connection between nature, art and music. By moving to Gstaad, we remain faithful to this vision while taking the overall experience to an even higher level,” says Maxime Léonard, Co-Founder and CEO of Caprices Festival.

Two weekends, distinct trajectories

The festival unfolds across two weekends, each with a deliberately different tone.

March 13–15, 2026 leans into a sharper, more focused energy, blending techno, house and melodic tension. Artists such as Adam Ten, Colyn b2b Rolbac, Luciano b2b Dennis Cruz, Joseph Capriati, Mind Against, Ilario Alicante, WhoMadeWho (Hybrid Set) and Sven Väth shape demanding dance floors built for depth and endurance.

March 20–22, 2026 broadens the spectrum, moving through house, minimal and afro-influenced rhythms. Bedouin, Craig Richards b2b Call Super, DJ Tennis, Jamie Jones, Mau P, Traumer Cassy b2b Prosumer, Francesco Del Garda, RPR Soundsystem, Shimza and Vintage Culture guide longer musical arcs from sunset into sunrise.

More artists are to be announced.

Three stages, Three philosophies

As Caprices Festival enters its 24th year, it introduces three distinct glasshouse stages, each conceived with a clear musical and spatial purpose.

The Peak Stage is the most visually striking, designed for large-scale performances framed by open alpine views. CNTRL moves in the opposite direction, a more intimate environment built for extended sets and carefully selected back-to-backs. Completing the trio, the Ridge Stage is reserved for more experimental programming and immersive concepts, reinforcing Caprices’ long-standing commitment to pushing beyond predictable formats.

There’s also a Secret Room amidst the festival premises. Hidden somewhere in the festival, this secret stage offers limited capacity, an original design, and unexpected moments. Across all stages, production remains characteristically precise: considered lighting, restrained scenography and sound systems tuned for depth.

Access, Accommodation and Movement

Beyond the festival site, Gstaad’s wider region plays an active role in the experience. Accommodation options range from five-star hotels to apartments and chalets, while a dedicated shuttle network connects surrounding villages including Saanen, Rougemont and Schönried. The decentralised approach preserves the festival’s intimate feel while allowing it to scale responsibly.

Mountain festivals live or die by logistics. In Gstaad, Caprices has treated access as part of the experience itself. Gondolas will now run continuously from midday until 4AM, with a seven-minute ascent to the summit.

The result is a subtle but meaningful shift in rhythm. Movement becomes fluid, unhurried — allowing the night to unfold naturally rather than being dictated by transport constraints.
