Visionary Australian duo Empire of the Sun have unveiled Chrysalis Festival, a three-day destination event taking place May 14–16, 2026 at Iskali Gardens, Hotel El Ganzo, in San José del Cabo. The festival promises a wholly immersive journey where music, art, and light converge. Pre-sale begins November 20, with general on-sale November 21 via chrysalisfestival.com.
Chrysalis Festival: A Journey of Rebirth
Dreamt into existence by Empire of the Sun and 100x Hospitality, Chrysalis invites fans to step through portals of imagination. Each evening will feature three exclusive Empire of the Sun performances, alongside a hand-selected lineup of international artists to be announced soon.
The experience unfolds across open-air stages, curated art installations, and hidden activations scattered throughout Iskali’s lush gardens and forests. These elements mirror themes of rebirth, love, and ascension that define the Empire universe.
Frontman Luke Steele describes Chrysalis as “about imagination and rebirth.” The festival’s narrative focuses on five symbols: the Door, the Egg, the Key, the Wings, and the Bell. Each represents thresholds, revelations, awakenings, future selves, and beginnings.
Fans have already seen cryptic teasers featuring robed figures, surreal landscapes, and Steele in futuristic attire. These visuals hint at the immersive storytelling awaiting attendees.
San José del Cabo has become a rising destination for global music events. Past editions like the Palm Tree Music Festival Getaway with Kygo and Framework Cabo showcased how the region blends natural beauty with world-class production. Chrysalis continues this tradition, adding Empire of the Sun’s visionary universe to Cabo’s growing festival legacy.
Recent Music and Legacy
Empire of the Sun recently released their fourth album Ask That God, featuring singles “Cherry Bossom,” “Changes,” and “Music on the Radio.” A deluxe edition added new tracks, including “Somebody’s Son” with Lindsey Buckingham. They followed with the Ask That God (Remixes) EP, showcasing euphoric reinterpretations.
Since their debut Walking On A Dream, the duo have sold over 5 million albums and earned multi-platinum certifications across the US, UK, and Australia. Their catalog has surpassed 6 billion streams, cementing their influence as one of the most innovative acts of the 21st century.
