Mr. Black talks about his workflow and his new releases on Revealed and Dharma/Spinnin

  • Hello!  How are you?

I’m doing great! Took some time off past month to finish some stuff for 2020 in the studio!

  • Can you tell us a little about yourself so that our readers could get to know you better?

I’m Yaniv, Producer & DJ. Being creative is one of my favorite things in life, and ofcourse I love combining it with in a lot of aspects in life such as travel, cooking food, and ofcourse in my music aswell.

  • You’ve managed to become quite the successful DJ/producer. How has the journey been for you up until this point?

The journey is like life, many happy and exciting moments full of satisfaction when you achieve some of your goals that you’ve been working on for some time, and sometimes it a bit tough and you need to hustle your way to the next milestone.

  • How and when did you get into music production and DJ-ing?

I got into music production more than 10 years ago. I come from the psytrance scene and had my own project Black & White that eventually became MR.BLACK when I shifted more into the EDM sounds around 2013 when I brought my first ‘relatively big’ record ‘Loud’. I have always been into music since I was very young, playing with instruments (drums and keyboard mostly), collecting electronic music and also I’ve been DJing (not professionally haha) when I was with my hometown friends, till I bought my first PC and then my production journey officially started.

  • What was your favorite show to play music at?

This is a hard question! Each place has its own magic, for example, I can play at Tomorrowland and feel all the cultures and see people from all around the world in one place, sharing this beautiful moment, and on the other hand you can play in a club in China and get different experience of culture,

  • Can you give us more details about your workflow? What is the first thing you do when you start producing a new song?

Music is all about muse and energy. Sometimes I get into the studio when I have the entire idea in my head and I go and execute it, and sometimes I start from the ‘technical’ stuff, like kick & bass, loops etc. It is very dynamic depends on the time, place and mood.

  • How would you describe your sounds?

Very energetic & electronic. I love combining it with live instrumentals (recording artists) and vocalists. My idea is bringing inspirations from different cultures and authentic sounds into my electronic rave music. I bring the style I grew on (my psytrance roots) in a fresh way to the dancefloor. It is nice to see people calling it as its new genre; I have heardnames for it like Hybrid, EDM/psy, Futurepsy etc.

  • When should we expect a new release?

Actually I’ve just released last month ‘Forever One’ on Revealed, last weekend I’ve released ‘Gypsy’ on Dharma/Spinnin’, and I’m happy these two are doing really well so far. Spoiler alert! I’m going to release in January 2 big tracks, on early January I’m releasing on Alteza Records (Vini Vici’s label) and something very special at the end of January. Stay tuned!

  • Do you have anything else you are excited about to share with our readers?

Yes! Whoever loves my music, this year I have been working super hard on the studio to plan 2020 and you can expect many sides of mine with each release that will drop every month!

  • What is the biggest goal you have in your musical career?

My biggest goal is to continue doing what I love, to see people enjoy it and relate to it. To create more unforgettable memories from the shows with the crowd, and to continue push boundaries with bringing new styles and to spread my music around the world.

  • This is all, for now! Thank you for your time!

Thank you for the interview! Hope to see you all in my coming shows in 2020! J
