On April 9th, 75 people walked into Hafechäs, Basel’s iconic fondue bar for a rave and Sofia Kourtesis was behind the decks. Local Swiss talent Sebastian Konrad opened. Nobody outside the room knew it was happening. Now, everyone can watch it.
El Tony Mate has released the full Sofia Kourtesis set on YouTube as part of its ongoing Selected Sessions series. It is an initiative that takes globally recognised electronic music artists and places them in some of Europe’s most unexpected and intimate locations. Fondue bars. Barbershops. Mexican restaurants. A condom shop in Amsterdam. The concept is deliberately anti-conventional. Connection over convention, creativity over commerciality, and carefully chosen settings over scale.
Kourtesis is one of the most talked-about artists in electronic music right now. A Peruvian-born, Berlin-based house and techno producer, she released her DJ-Kicks mix in March 2026 and has spent recent years building a devoted global following. Playing to 75 people in a Swiss fondue bar is exactly the kind of move that defines her relationship with her audience.

Beyond the Room
The Beatport connection is central to how the series reaches beyond its 75 in-the-room guests. Previous Selected Sessions, including DJ Tennis at La Taqueria in Zurich and EDE from Innervisions at Amira Barbershop were streamed live via Beatport. It allowed fans worldwide to experience the sessions in real time. The Basel edition featuring Sofia Kourtesis now joins the archive on YouTube. It now has a permanent home for anyone who missed the live stream.
El Tony Mate runs its Selected Sessions as part of a broader Culture Collective wing that connects music, art, events and creativity with a community focus.
