Young DJ Talent Creates His Own Stage at the World’s Biggest Electronic Music Conference (ADE)

15-year-old DJ and organizer Luuk Rooks, better known by his artist name ROOX, will launch his own event during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE): NXT GEN. The event will take place on Saturday, October 25 at The Other Side (Rigakade 10, Amsterdam), a club with a capacity of 1,100 visitors and a state-of-the-art light and sound system. With this production, Luuk becomes the youngest organizer ever at ADE, which is recognized worldwide as the largest conference and festival for electronic music.

Luuk has been active in the music industry for several years and decided to take the leap to create his own stage. “As a young artist, you notice how difficult it is to get a spot in the scene. That’s why I wanted to create something that not only gives me an opportunity, but also other DJs. ADE is the place where the entire international music scene comes together, so it feels almost unreal that at fifteen I am able to organize my own event here and play a set myself.”

The line-up consists of artists he personally admires and who, according to him, perfectly fit the vision of the event. Visitors can expect performances by Tim Hox, Toby Romeo, Vato Gonzalez, Angie Mill, DONT BLINK, and of course ROOX himself. Artists from Austria, Germany, Belgium, the UK, Japan, and the Netherlands will come together for one special night.

NXT GEN is not only about music, but above all about the experience. The organization deliberately opts for a premium experience, with a spectacular show in which light, sound and performance merge. The goal is to create a night that visitors will not soon forget and that places a new generation of artists in the spotlight.

An important factor in the success of NXT GEN is the collaboration with main sponsor ING. The bank supports the project financially, but also with promotion and access to a valuable network. “Music connects and inspires, and we are happy to give young talent a stage. That’s why we proudly support DJ ROOX, who at just 15 years old is organizing his own event during ADE. As a bank, we believe in the power of entrepreneurship and in pursuing dreams. You can’t start too early with that. By supporting this initiative, we help create a stage where creativity and ambition come together,” says Steffen van Iersel, Head of Sponsorships and Events at ING Netherlands.

In addition to his musical ambitions, Luuk also combines this project with his school career. Last year he was already given time off from school to attend ADE and follow masterclasses and networking events. This year, NXT GEN even becomes an official part of the Honours Program of the Gymnasia (HPG) in which he participates, showing how education and talent development can go hand in hand. The event marks the beginning of what will hopefully become an annual tradition. The name NXT GEN symbolizes the new generation of DJs and producers who are ready to take over. In the future, Luuk wants to offer more young talents a stage and thus build a community in which the next wave of artists can develop.

Amsterdam Dance Event provides the perfect backdrop. With around 500,000 visitors each year, more than 1,000 events and over 200 locations spread across the city, ADE is not only the largest, but also the most important meeting place for everyone in the electronic music world. That a 15-year-old is now putting his own event on the map underscores the ambition of this young organizer.

Ticket sales for NXT GEN powered by ING start on September 10 at 19:00.
