EXIT Festival Announces Two Free Festivals in Montenegro This Summer

Long Beach Ulcinj in July. Bečići Beach Budva in August. Both completely free to attend. EXIT to Montenegro is showing what a summer festival can be.

EXIT Festival is bringing two completely free festivals to Montenegro this summer. Charlotte de Witte and Peggy Gou headline the August edition at Bečići Beach in Budva. Argy, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Monolink and Stephan Bodzin lead the July edition at Long Beach in Ulcinj.

Free festivals and public pop-ups are not a new concept in Europe. The idea that great music should not always come with a price tag is something that the global electronic music community has always stood for. What EXIT is doing in Montenegro this summer is simply that idea at scale. EXIT has been on the road this year taking its showcase to Croatia, Macedonia, Malta, Egypt and India as part of its 2026 World Tour, titled “The First Chapter.” Montenegro is the latest stop.

Only thing you need to attend these two festival showcases by EXIT in Montenegro is register.

First Stop: Long Beach, Ulcinj

The first festival weekend takes place at Long Beach in Ulcinj. 13 kilometres of wide sandy shoreline, one of Europe’s longest beaches and a popular kitesurfing destination known for its beach clubs and sunset bars. The main programme runs July 3rd to 6th with warm-up events from July 1st to 3rd setting the tone ahead of the main nights.

Argy, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Monolink, Stephan Bodzin, and Awen lead a bill for the Ulcinj edition. The organisers are explicit about the direction: “No LED, no SFX, no BS — just pure music, sunsets, and sea.” It is a return to the roots of club culture at a moment when production increasingly overshadows the music itself. As one of the last undeveloped stretches of Mediterranean coastline, Long Beach provides a perfect setting that needs no enhancement.

Next: Bečići Beach, Budva

The second festival weekend moves to Bečići Beach in Budva, Montenegro’s tourism capital; with warm-up events running from August 24th to 27th ahead of the main programme on August 28th to 31st.

Charlotte de Witte headlines. Her free rave in Genova earlier this year drew 20,000 people and a viral dancing mayor and she brings that same commitment to public access and dance floor connection to the Montenegrin coast. Peggy Gou joins her at the top of a bill that also features Hugel, Enrico Sangiuliano, and John Newman. Additional acts are still to be announced for the August edition.

Much of the programming draws on the heritage of EXIT’s Dance Arena.

How Does Free Actually Work Here?

Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajić has projected more than 210,000 overnight stays and over €40 million in tourism revenue from the project. A number that explains how a festival of this ambition can drop the ticket price entirely. The economic return comes through tourism, not ticket sales. For attendees, it means two of the summer’s most compelling lineups are available to anyone who registers in advance.
